Who Is Selling These Paintings?
Hi. My name is Sam and I am helping Jesus (pronounced Hesus) as I consider him my friend. I am volunteering my time.
While on vacationing in Havana in 2002, I walked into Almacenes San José Mercado Artesanal as the tour guide took me there for souvenirs since it was my first time in Cuba. In the building the second floor was reserved for artists to sell their paintings but most of the paintings were repetitive paintings of Cuban buildings and cars. Unexpectedly I came across Jesus Lazaro's section and it felt like I had walked into an art gallery. I am not an art expert but I really liked what I saw but due to my lack of knowledge I did not purchase any paintings. When I returned to Toronto I decided that one of his paintings would look really nice on my wall and the astethic value was worth the investment.
One year later I went back to Cuba and had a long conversation with Jesus. All his paintings are fantastic and I did bring one painting home. Since then I have gotten to know Jesus better and I pick up one of pieces every time I go.
Over the years we have had many conversations and I can tell you that Jesus is a great person and a great father. His talent is one of the reasons that makes Cuba great and when Cuba opens again I am positive that Jesus will be better known to the world.

These paintings vary in size from 31"x39" to 54"x 59". These pictures were taken with an old cell phone. The colors are brighter than the photos as these were taken on an old phone. The actual paintings are much more beautiful. More paintings will be added in the future.
